View Full Version : Writing and Writing?

Okay, here is something that I simply don't understand. We play in writing games. We write about our characters lives, fortunes, misfortunes, adventures, triumphs and defeats. Some of us write of adventures and action. Some of us write about romances and our characters personal lives. Most of us write a combination of many of these.
So why is it that so few of us are willing to read and write in forums? When I sit down with a pen & paper group half the time it's a struggle to get the game started and keep everyone on track because everyone wants to chat and catch up on each others personal lives, exchange stories, etc. etc. But here, for some reason, it seems like most players don't want to do anything outside of in-character posts.
Why? To me, they're missing half the fun. Maybe that's why so many players drop out. I don't know. But I, for one, want to hear how everyone's day went. I want to hear how you, my friends, are doing in school, or how your kids are doing, or about your new job or new car. To me simming is not just about the game, but also about the community.
So all you players out there, get on these forums and post! Lupe, where's my whip emote?
*cringes* Nooooooo not the whip *cringes*
All ya had to do was ask, I hate boring folks with my day to day drudge.
But as you have commanded here goes :P :-
So far today things have gone pretty well, the kids were actually up on time and ready to leave for school early for once. Which is good for me and thier mum, (I am thier nanny) thier school is starting a new scheme that if a child is late 3 times they report you to the local child welfare officer.
My back is a bit better today which is always a good thing, hopefully if won't take as long as normal to heal up properly. I have almost finished my next set of costume for my live role play events, I am currently making a set of clothes for a dwarven warrior.
I am looking forwards to tomorrow as the kids, thier mum and stepdad are going away for the weekend. So I get to have some friends round and relax, which is always fun.

Glad to hear things are going well. :D
That new law sounds just like what Orwell warned about. :P Why is it governments think they need to control everything everyone does?
I'm sorry to hear you've been having back problems. I have a lot of problems with mine too, but yours sounds worse. :(
Live roleplay events, eh? I've never done that. I'm happy with keeping it all in my demented mind. :D I'd love to see your costume, though. You'll have to post a picture!
Back problem isn't serious just repetative, I have injured it so many times over the years that the muscles are now weak. So I often rip them, normally all of them at same time but this time is just some in middle of back.
It might be a while before i put pics up as it will be the costume for my next char, at the moment I play a lady (yes I know I just swore) of the court. Is set in medievil times but is fantasy based, so costume rules are fairly lax unlike the re-enactors who are very strict.
It is not a law just the schools being over zealeous.
well, I am sorry about your back, and I have seen some of your costumes that you have posted before. It does sound really cool.
Should point Cooper towards those events, he also is into it, and lives somewhere in that side of the world.
Here it's just groundhog day. only keeping track of the day of the week by the week-ends.
I have a website program I am fiddling with, wiki, 3 simms, a wife in pain, and work.
Will gladly point him towards them if he gives me a shout either on here or via IM.
Sounds like your as busy as ever Lupe, sorry to hear Dorella is in so much pain. I hope it is nothing serious to add to everything else, she is too nice a person to be suffering so much.
Well I have had a nice relaxing weekend with the housemate and her kids away, have had some friends over. We have just been chillin' out watching movies and eating junk, it has been great. I am dreading the housemates return any time in the next 2 hours, but hey at least I only have to put up with her until wednesday when she and the kids move out.
