View Full Version : Babel Fish Game
I have played a game using the internet translation programs.
Babel Fish (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/)
Google Translate (http://translate.google.com/?hl=en#)
What you do is make a sentence, translate it with a translator program to what ever language you want then back to English.
The idea is tell us what you start with, what languages it goes through and how it ends.
Example:
The quick red fox jumped over the lazy brown dog.
Google translate from English to Arabic
الثعلب الأحمر سريعة وقفز فوق الكلب البني كسول.
then back to English
Red fox jumped over the quick and lazy brown dog.
The object is to confuse the translator as best as you can.

From English:
High school girls need to be taught that when your perfume spreads across the room like nerve toxin, it's time to put the cap back on the bottle.
To Belarusian:
Сярэдняй школы для дзяўчынак трэба вучыць таму, што калі вашыя духі распаўсюджваецца па пакоі, як нерв таксін, пара пакласці назад крышку на бутэльцы.
Back to English:
Middle school for girls need to be taught that if your spirits are distributed around the room like a nerve toxin, it is time to put the lid back on the bottle.
To Galician:
Medio escola para nenas precisan ser ensino que se os seus espíritos están distribuídos ao redor da sala como unha toxina do nervio, é hora de poñer a tapa de volta na botella.
Back to English:
Middle school girls need to be learning that their spirits are distributed around the room as a nerve toxin, it is time to put the lid back on the bottle.
To Hebrew:
בנות בית הספר התיכון צריך ללמוד כי רוחם מופצים ברחבי החדר כמו רעלן עצבים, זה הזמן לשים את המכסה בחזרה על הבקבוק.
Back to English:
High school girls to learn that the spirits are distributed around the room like a nerve toxin, it is time to put the lid back on the bottle.
Hm....not bad.

My step dad always told me girls were poisonous :P
English
I've always wondered just what makes people come up with labels like "Do not use hair dryer in shower"
dutch
I' ve was altijd enkel wat benieuwd mensen maakt met etiketten zoals " op de proppen komen; Gebruik geen droogkap in shower"
english 2
I' ve were always only what make aroused curiosity people with labels such as " on shove come; Use no cap in shower" (Alrighty then... not looking good so far)
Japanese
I' veは"のようなラベルを持つ覚醒させた興味の人々を作るものが常にだったただ; で来られる押しなさい; shower"で帽子を使用してはいけない;
english 3
I' As for ve " Those which make the people of the interest which has the label the way and makes awaken were always, simply; So you come, push; shower" So the hat does not have to be used; (uh... wut?)
Russian
I' Как для " ve; Те которые делают людей интереса который имеет ярлык путь и делает для того чтобы разбудить был всегда, просто; Так вы приходите, нажимаете; shower" Так шлем не должен быть использован;
english 4
I' As for " ve; Those which make people of interest which it has a label way makes in order to wake was always, simply; So you come, you press; shower" So helmet must not be used; (and I thought translating Klingon was hard)
So suffice it to say, it turned out to be gibberish. Although I did find it interesting that all three "foreign" languages didn't seem to have a word for shower... Not sure if i want to do any traveling now...
