Drakno
05-15-2009, 09:33 PM
Well, one getting all the bugs worked out with our RPG and what we want to due took
longer than planned but making something fun and long lasting takes work. Also I
just got married finally as to make the kids happy. So to say I've been a little busy
while I was trying to due everything else. Plus chasing Alice has taking some doing
since she likes warping everywhere.

Thanks Lupe. The simm is based on the books by Anne MacCaffrey. I didnt realise quite the following the books have. This game has been goinga few weeks and I cant beleive how well it is looking. I play Senior Weyrwoman Calistra, and her dragon is the Golden Queen Xiliath. Its great fun and I love it. Its good have it join the BoB.

Lupe
07-19-2009, 09:05 PM
My sister started me on them. I have read the whole series up to where they found the starship and stopped the thread. I know there are more books after that but since I am 140 miles (225 km) from my sister, it's a little harder for her to share books with me.

Thanks all. 8)

We're not really a simm, but we're also a textbased played game.

So thank you for allowing us to join. :-)

Lupe
08-08-2009, 09:23 AM
well by strict definition neither is LCBO but since we are different from all the other groups in the world and so we don't worry about trifles. Your a group of people playing together in a text based world, and that is good enough by me.

I worry about society today, people are loosing the ability to creatively write.

Kevron
08-08-2009, 09:36 AM
I think that has to do with the fact handwriting as a whole isn't being taught in schools anymore, and I've always felt handwriting helped inspire creativity. Though, I don't mean to say that creativity's drying up. I only meant, that schools should go back to teaching handwriting as they did in the past.

Lupe

Lupe

She is a Sovie class, and to be honest, I don't know what the IC CO's name is yet.

He only agreed to take command this morning and has not put in his CO Character yet.

ah. I had my hopes. I once knew someone in BF that was in command of the Sov class USS Texas and would be delighted if they showed up here.
It is Becca's Texas, we are holding it in trust for her.

TF-21 in BF closed the Texas at the end of last year/beginning of this one, because RL had been kicking Becca in the head till she could not maintain her ship.

But you know us Texans, we don't quit just because someone told us to. more sarcasm

einar_90808
08-12-2009, 02:25 PM
cool. I was once the Chief of Strategic Operations on Becca's Texas a whileback. I hope RL gets better so she can come back

I would like to welcome the newest member to the Band of Brothers.

Star Trek Knights (http://stknights.site11.com/)

The year is 2400, the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire with the Beta Quadrant Trade and Protection (BQTP) Agreement have secured a stable and prominent power position in the Alpha Quadrant; free from any threat of invasion. But while the two superpowers were focused on securing their borders from outside threats, the Orion Syndicate silently grew bigger and stronger within their space. And in a time when both quadrant should be enjoying peace and prosperity, the Orion Syndicate are fanning the embers of old animosities into engulfing flames. Terrorism in the 25th century has become a booming industry. Weapons, technology, and expertise flow freely in the black market highway. Pirates and raiders attack, pillage, and vanish into the abyss before security forces of individual planets can organize and combat the threat. Crime lords and dictators are emerging louder and stronger. The democratic planetary members of the United Federation of Planets along with Starfleet are desperately struggling to keep the growing disorder from spinning out of control.

On the frontline of this war are the KNIGHTS, codename to Starfleet's Special Missions Unit (SMU) of the 1st Special Warfare Group in the 6th Fleet. They are the vanguard of Starfleet's military technology and the last line of defense from catastrophic disasters. Composed of the best and the brightest crew from all over Starfleet and armed with the state of the art weaponry and equipment, the KNIGHTS are ready to engage the threat at a moment's notice where ever it may emerge. And meanwhile they operate in absolute secrecy and answer only to the most senior Starfleet staff, their combined courage and vigilance have saved the lives of millions.

Yet even now a new enemy awaits in the dark. Able to strike where ever and when ever he pleases, bound by only hatred and ambition. An enemy greater than any the KNIGHTS have ever faced!

This is their stories...

Captain Michael Kish and crew, we welcome you to the Band of Brothers and Safe Haven!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Jane_Thornton Here's something of historical nature. You may want to read Mevynn. And anyone else for that matter.

Well that doesn't seem to be working so here is anothe site which hopefully works.

I've not played in a simm with you, Ragsdale but Welcome back!

Dorella Allerod
01-17-2010, 09:00 PM
Have I gone completely forgotten that no one even noticed I was back? :p

I noticed and welcome back! :) I was wondering where you gone off to.

Lupe
01-17-2010, 09:08 PM
I saw your back and did the happy dance. I just didn't want to put the spot light on you and embarrass you.

As for the Terp, the top needs are a Sailing Master, the 3rd Lieutenant, some Midshipman.

The third Lieutenant will be in charge of the 26 12lb cannon in the waist of the ship, and keep a watch.

The Midshipman (if a Masters Mate - an oldster or older Mid) will be in charge of a Mast, [Main, Fore, or Mizzen] and keep a watch.

Midshipman proper (something between newbie and oldster) will be in charge of the Fo’c’sle guns or Quarter deck guns and be mate of a watch.

Midshipman (first class volunteer, squeaker, youngster) will be aide-de-camp to the Captain and First Lieutenant, also mate of a watch.

Sailing Master - the sailing master in the Royal Navy became the warrant officer trained specifically in navigation, was the senior warrant officer rank, and was the second most important officer aboard rated ships.[1] The Master ate in the wardroom with the other officers, had a large cabin in the gunroom, and had a smaller day cabin next to the captain's cabin on the quarterdeck for charts and navigation equipment
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_(naval)

Ragsdale
01-17-2010, 09:55 PM
I think I would be interested in the third lieutenant or perhaps a marine of some sort. Either one of those or the Midshipman overseeing the Quarter Deck guns.

Lupe
01-17-2010, 10:01 PM
http://terpsichore.st-bob.net/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&Itemid=26

fill it in and I will put you in the system and on the Open List for muster.

If you want to be the Lieutenant your commission date has to be after January 23, 1795

Ragsdale
01-17-2010, 10:21 PM
Okay, after Jan. 23, 1795, but why may I ask? What happened on that day? And what is the most recent date of commissioning that I could have that would be realistic to me being posted as third lt.? age?

Lupe
01-17-2010, 10:41 PM
Senority was based on time in. Our Second Lieutenant Patrick O'Mally (http://terpsichore.st-bob.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4&Itemid=9) got his Lieutenant commission on January 23, 1795. So as third Lieut you have to be newer then him.

As for how new... December 10, 1797 and on or about 19 years old. To be a Lieutenant you have to serve 6 years at sea, Most of it as a Midshipman, and you have to pass for Lieutenant, which is a test given to Midshipman by three Captains.

Your character could have been a Midshipman yesterday and is now a brand spanking new Lieutenant. Around the age of 19 (he could have fudged his age by a year)

There are only three Lieutenants on a ship the size of the Terpsichore, a frigate the size of the HMS Surprise would have 2, and a 74 gun ship would have 6.

Hope that helps. If you need any more help just ask, I am here. check our site under the tab of resources, there are links to every kind of thing under the sun.

Ragsdale
01-18-2010, 12:18 AM
I hope you received the application. I spent a fair amount of time on it and when I clicked submit, it said I wasn't allowed to view the URL.

Lupe
01-18-2010, 06:15 AM
*face palms* did you recive it? I have it set up to email both me and the applicant.

I don't have it in my email box. :(

I am going to go ahead and give you permission to post on the Terp, but I will need at least his name so I can start the place holder bio till you can reconstruct it.

I am very sad that it did that to you.

Ragsdale
01-18-2010, 10:07 AM
Andrew Ragsdale Foxall, 3rd Lieutenant.

Commissioned December 12, 1797

Received orders for the Terpsichore to report by January 5, 1798

Lupe
01-18-2010, 10:48 AM
he will be on the rolls in just a moment.

email me his bio when you get it put back together and I will fill in the ship board bio sheet.

I am again sorry that the site played marry havoc on you and lost your hard work.

http://www.oldsaltblog.com/2009/02/05/anne-jane-thornton-the-female-sailor/

Heh, thanks for the link, but I was mostly kidding. It's a man's world. :)

I was tempted to join, but I'm a total noob concerning sea- or nautical terms so I think I'll pass. I had an idea to bypass that, but I don't think that will fit with the Terp's history. And it would also mean my input would be minimal. *shrugs*

Ragsdale
01-18-2010, 01:40 PM
Bio sent to blackfleet email address. Let me know if you don't get it.

Mevynn, I don't know what I'm doing either, but its worth a shot.

Lupe
01-18-2010, 01:42 PM
you could be a first class volunteer (Midshipman) and this could be your first time to see the sea.

I will go so far as to offer for you to be William's nephew, (he has two older sisters)

Mevynn
01-18-2010, 01:50 PM
Yay, does that mean I can be seasick the whole voyage? *blinks*

Hm, you just want someone to sweep the deck with seawater, don't ya ;)

You guys are making it hard to refuse...

Ok, sign me up Lupe, as for a bio you'll have to wait for the weekend though. I'll need to do some backgroundreading first.

Linette Geraud

Lupe

Welp, mehaps thinks, yes. I got something running in my head and wow.

I was burned on startrek. But when a character speaks and says stuff to me in my mind and tells me what I should play as a charcter, I go for it. I am working on a Bio and will have it in a few days. I am happy, perhaps hurt feelings from simms past will make me better today. I hope. :)

Operating on the principle that no question is a stupid question, might an ignorant person like me ask what exactly is a Grey Mist simm???

Lupe
02-21-2010, 09:04 PM
Grey Mist is the Star Trek simming group that has joined the Band of Brothers.

They run in two (well three) time periods 2387, TOS, and the nu-Trek Universe.

Each member simm of Grey Mist is also a member of the Band of Brothers.

Outcast...

This one is hard to explain, so I won't try. I will let the creator do so. :p

This puppy comes from my sick twisted mind, its beginnings hail all the way from a Junior High School writing assignment. Matt and I RPed it on another forum for awhile that was NOT RP based and it did ok. This forum is more active RP and might support it better. So, here's another fun one to dabble in from time to time with a Sci-Fi twist to it. Yeah, it's kinda post apocalypse, but the Earth is FAR behind us! This is not Star Trek at all... a whole nother ball of fur!

Our newest member to the Band of Brothers

The Ranch: New Beginnings

Premise for the post apocalyptic game that's been going around in my head for a few days:
============================

While everyone was worried about who was becoming a nuclear power and whether we were all going to have jobs tomorrow, the world as we know it ended.

Two years ago, the news was all about electromagnetic pulse projectors and how this very wealthy guy had bankrolled a scientific team who figured out a way to project a focused electromagnetic pulse from high orbit satellites. Woodrow Ewell IV. Before long, every country had to have one. And while Woodrow was raking in the bucks, a whole new round of threats were making things real interesting on the news, at the UN, and in centers of power across the planet.

Problem was, the system had a back door. When pressed, Mr. Ewell said that it was strictly for system maintenance only the information got out. What I know is, one morning I'm having coffee and I'm late for work and suddenly the television is all about this terrorist group who says we all have to pay for our crimes against the planet and how we all had one week to prepare for what was coming.

No one did of course though there was a lot of talk around the water coolers. We all just went to work like always, like it all mattered while the governments hunted for him. Tracked down red herring after red herring but they couldn't find him. No one could. Woodrow Ewell IV retired to his massive compound, location undisclosed, and huddled with his lawyers about how liable he was.

And then, somewhere around day 5, the governments started posturing. Laying blame. They got scared, started threatening to unleash their nukes and biological weapons. It was a terrible and scary time. And I hear some of that did happen but that's the last I heard. Because on day seven the terrorist group punched in the global code and an electromagnetic pulse took out electronics systems across the planet and then it all went dark.

That's where this story begins.

Thanks. Our post-apocalypse games looks like its going to be great -- set in 2010, its about people and how they adjust as much as it is about the things that happen to them and how they build a life after the worst possible thing happens. We have a site, thanks to Lupe the Magnificent, (just waiting on my user name/password) and I'm collecting information. Once I have access, I'll start plugging everything in and we'll be ready to receive players. Can't wait? Ping me or send me an email. Love to see you in the game.

Lupe
04-06-2010, 07:07 AM
You have access, check your IM off line messages ROFL

use your Safe Haven forum name and password, and btw, your a super admin there. That means you have to wear a cape and tights when you do your admin work. :pound:

Everyone on this forum is on your members list there, so if they join your simm you can go to the members list and make them an Author or Editor so they can create and edit their own bios.

just drop Dorella a pm if they need posting privilege on this forum and she can set their permission, you will see that you are the mod of that area already.

At this time I would like to introduce our newest simm in the Band of Brothers;

The CSS Righteous Fury.

This is one of those simms that is hard to say what genera it is, SciFi is the best one for it, it has tech from Andromeda, ranks and CoC from BSG, and houses and titles from the middle ages.

I am not sure what universe or time period they will be in, he had tried in several fleets to run this simm and they all messed with him till he didn't know either then kicked him since it was not Star Trek. *shrug* that's a fleet for you.

The site just went up today so it has nothing on it yet. He is trying to get his database from the last group he had simmed with. It's pbsms so that is his history and all.

Anyway around it, here the site is: http://righteousfury.st-bob.net

Roo

Saint
06-02-2010, 05:12 AM
Well abit of both... we were independent, we joined another fleet which unfortunately for us destroyed us. However, the three of us (the now Tenth Fleet Command) loved the idea and really want it to work so we rebranded and went independant before joining Band of Brothers.

We really would like to make it a success and I think we've made the right move. Its been years in development at the time I was just an adviser
