what home remedies do you use, or your grandmother use for that matter.

I am talking about sore-throat cures and fever breakers, not recreational pharmaceuticals.

My favorite sinus clearing and lung decongestant is 'please let me die' hot sauce and chips.

1 good size tomato
6 jalapenos (don't get the firm good looking ones, get the slightly soft and wrinkled ones, they are hotter)
half an onion
ptlg garlic powder
ptlg salt
ptlg black pepper
ptlg cayenne pepper
ptlg chili pepper (crushed red pepper is the same thing)
1 Tbs lemon juice (a preservative)

slice off the stem of the peppers and scald them in a cast iron skillet, (wrap them in a wet paper towel and microwave them also works)

cut the tomato into 1/8s or smaller and put in blender, cut the peppers in at least halfs, cut the onions in 1/4s and add all the spice.

blend to a liquid

ptlg= pour till looks good

I've got a recipe for dealing with pain. In fact I'm using it right now due to over doing it on the cleaning of my house. One Tablespoon of Honey, One tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water. The glass I use is about two cups in measurement. If you can't handle the sourness you can actually cut it down to a teaspoon of honey and a tsp of applecider vinegar in the same amount of water. I prefer to use the tablespoon measurement instead. You can drink this through out the day, when ever the pain hits.

The recipe I got this from is in a book titled, Herbal Medicines by Dian Dincin Buchman. I call this my herbal bible due to the practical applications that are inside and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get the products. Especially for those who cook. :) I highly recommend in trying to get a copy of this book. I got mine from Amazon. com.

Oh and also the honey, vinegar mixture is also helping me to deal with dehydration too.

When I have heart burn I grate up about a tbsp of ginger root put it in a tea ball and then put it in about 3.5 cups of water you've boiled for tea. You can drink it with honey and for me this really helps my heart burn. Also if you get heart burn at night if you lay on your left side with your arm under your head it will help relieve it, that way you don't have to sit up in the bed all night!

For headaches I used to take so much Tylenol or Advil that I finally got tired of it so now I have a couple of those beany filled fabric things that you can either microwave to make them warm or put in the freezer to make them cold. When I get a headache I take a cold one and lying on my back I put it under my neck so the curve of my neck is anatomically correct again for about 15-20 minutes. If I still have a head ache I'll do it again within about 30 minutes. Never fails to cure my head aches.
