Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!

Does the man look poor or oppressed?

Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?

Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids?

Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation?

Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?

Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?

Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?

Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?

If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1?

Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day. Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.

I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.

The southern answer was too soft on the terrorist. The republican was foolish. I'm not going to even comment on the democrat. My answer was BANG! BANG! - one in each thigh so the SOB couldn't get up, but could live to stand trial as an example to others, then spend the rest of his miserable life in prison instead of getting the neat suicide he was looking for.

Nonsense. Everyone knows our justice system can be relied upon to use the most expensive option possible. They will spend many years and millions of dollars in litigation while he resides in an expensive, taxpayer funded, commercially-run (for profit) prison until some otherwise honest red-blooded American, convicted for possession of 5 ounces of marijuana, gets fed up and splits his gizzard.

The cardassians would take a different approach, extract one of the interior molars for identification, before wrenching any information from them, putting them on trial (a state trial as seen in Deep Space Nine) and then execute them...not in that order.

My personal answer would be a republican southerner responce. lol
which would also include staking him out where the others of his kind could see him and think about their actions first before throwing away their lives.

And Long Hall, the Romulan responce would be to stun him, put him on the mind sifter to see if he knows anything useful. They would then use mind effecting drugs and reprogram him and place him inside a sensitive area where he could be a programed mole and collect intelligence from him for years before being discovered.
